Research Interests

Use of novel approaches of medicinal chemistry for design and synthesis of agents for various therapeutic purposes

We are interested in the application of medicinal chemistry for drug design (computational) and chemical synthesis. We are especially interested in the following fields of drugs:

Calcium channel blocking agents

Calcium channel blockers are widely used for management of cardiovascular diseases. We synthesize different classes of compounds and test them with isolated organ systems for their CCB activity. We are especially interested in dihydropyridine derivatives.

Anticancer agents
Cancer is a huge health burden for all countries and we always need new drugs with better efficacy and safety profiles. We are interested in design and synthesis of small-molecule anticancer drugs as well as multidrug resistance (MDR) reversal agents.

β-secretase (BACE-1) inhibitors for management of Alzheimer disease
Alzheimer disease is an age-related neurodegenerative disorder and as our society grows older, the prevalence and health burden of this devastating disease is rapidly increasing. BACE-1 is a key enzyme in the production of amyloid-beta and its inhabition is a very promising tool for management of Alzheimer disease.

 p-38 MAP Kinase inhibitors

Inhibitors of p-38 MAP kinase could be very useful for management of inflammatory diseases and cancer.
